Sporting events
In the years 1998 to 2001 the youth world championships and youth European championships in chess were held in Oropesa del Mar.
From April 6 to 8, 2012, the quarter-finals of the Davis Cup 2012 between Spain and Austria took place in Oropesa del Mar , which Spain won 4-1.
