Anna Uschenina ( Ukrainian Анна Юріївна Ушеніна , with the World Chess Federation FIDE Anna Ushenina ; born August 30, 1985 in Kharkiv ) is a Ukrainian chess player . She was world chess champion from December 2012 to September 2013 .

Life

Uschenina was Ukrainian U12 champion in Kiev in 1997 , and U14 champion in 1998 and 1999, again in Kiev. In 2002 in Kramatorsk she won the Ukrainian U20 youth championship. In 2005 she won the Ukrainian women's individual championship in Alushta . At the European Women's Championship in Plovdiv in 2008 she was third.

With the Ukrainian U18 national team, she won the U18 European Championship for girls in Balatonlelle in 2002 , where she also received an individual silver medal for her result of 4.5 out of 6 on the top board.

She became the international women's champion (WIM) in 2001. She has been the women's grandmaster (WGM) since August 2003. She achieved the standards for this in February 2001 at the Adora tournament in Odessa and in March 2003 at the cruis tournament in Kiev. She has held the title of International Master (IM) since January 2007, after meeting the standards at the 2006 Women's Chess Olympiad in Turin in June 2006, the Pardubice Open in July 2006 and the 16th Festival in Abu Dhabi in August 2006.

Uschenina won the title at the 2012 Women's World Chess Championship , which was held from November 10th to December 2nd, 2012 in Khanty-Mansiysk . In the final, she prevailed in the tie-break against former world champion Antoaneta Stefanowa . Before that, Uschenina Deysi Cori , Anna Musytschuk , Natalja Pogonina , Nadeshda Kossinzewa and Ju Wenjun had switched off. For this success she was awarded the title of Grand Master (GM) according to the FIDE regulations . At the 2013 women's chess world championship , she lost the world title in Taizhou with 1.5: 5.5 (−4, = 3, +0) to Hou Yifan . As a world champion, Uschenina was also qualified for the 2013 World Chess Cup , in which she lost 1: 3 to Pyotr Swidler in the first round .

One of her worst chess experiences was likely to have been when she failed to mate with bishop and knight against Olga Girja in 2013 as world champion in an elementary final .

In February 2015, she was behind Anna Musytschuk and Marija Musytschuk in third place in the Ukrainian Elo ranking of women, which she has already topped several times. Her highest rating to date was 2502 in July 2007, which at that time meant eighth place on the FIDE women's world rankings.

In June 2016 she won the European Women's Championship in Mamaia .

Uschenina has been a member of the Ukrainian national women's team since 2005. She took part in the 2006 Chess Olympiads in Turin , 2008 in Dresden , 2010 in Khanty-Mansiysk , 2012 in Istanbul and 2014 in Tromsø . She achieved first place with the team in 2006, second in 2008, and third in 2012 and 2014.

Uschenina represented Ukraine at the women's team championships in 2007, 2009, 2011, 2013 and 2015. She won with the team in 2013 and reached third place in 2007 and 2009, in the individual ranking she achieved the second-best result on the second board and the third-best rating in 2013 - Performance of all participants, in 2007 the third best result on the second board.

She took part in six European women's team championships (2005, 2007, 2009, 2011 , 2013 and 2015), with Ukraine winning the 2013 tournament in Warsaw , second place in 2015 and third place in 2009, while Anna Uschenina individual gold medals in 2007 in Heraklion and 2011 in Porto Carras on the third board, in 2015 an individual silver medal on the fourth board and in 2013 an individual bronze medal on the second board.

In Ukraine, she played in 2002 for ShK Alexander Momot , where she took part in the Ukrainian team championship with an all-women selection and took part in the women's European Club Cup , and in 2004 for the Bavaria Kharkiv Region team . In Serbia she played for ŠK Jugovice Kac , in Montenegro for SK T-Com Podgorica , with which she took part in the 2007 European Women's Club Cup, in France for L'Echiquier Chalonnais , in Turkey for the university team Manisa Doruk , in Slovenia on the first board of the women's team of the ŠD Krka Novo Mesto , but also in the general game operation, in the Russian women's league for Economist-SGSEU Saratov , with whom she took part in the women's European Club Cup in 2008 and 2009, and Yugra Khanty-Mansiysk , with whom she won the championship in 2013 and competed three times in the women's European Club Cup. With the team she reached second place in 2013 and third in 2015, and third place on the top board in the individual ratings in 2014 and 2015. Uschenina played for ŠK Rijeka in Croatia , and she also played in the Chinese team championship (2014 for Tianjin , 2015 for Qingdao , 2016 for Chengdu and 2017 for Shenzhen ). In Austria she was registered for the SK Advisory Invest Baden in the 2009/10 season , but was not used.
