Hennadij Kuzmin

Hennadij Kuzmin ( Russian Геннадий Павлович Кузьмин / Gennadi Pavlovich Kuzmin, Ukrainian Геннадій Кузьмін , spelling the World Chess Federation FIDE Gennadi Kuzmin P * 19th January 1946 in Mariinsk ; † 28. February 2020 in Luhansk ) was a Ukrainian - Soviet chess -Großmeister.

Hennadij Kuzmin took part in eleven Soviet championships from 1965 to 1991 . In 1973 he was awarded both the title of International Master and the title of Grand Master by FIDE .

Kuzmin won the Ukrainian championship in 1969, 1989 and 1999. He later worked mainly as a chess trainer , so he looked after Ruslan Ponomarjow , Jekaterina Lagno and Gennadij Ginsburg .

Kuzmin won the 1974 Chess Olympiad in Nice with the Soviet national team (and also achieved the third-best individual result on the second reserve board) and the 1973 European team championship in Bath , where he also achieved the second-best individual result on the eighth board. At the European Club Cup he took from 1982 to 2003 a total of 13 times and won this in 1984 with Trud Moscow .

In May 1974 it reached its highest rating of 2,600.
