Andrij Wolokitin ( Ukrainian Андрій Олександрович Волокітін , scientific transcription Andrij Olexandrowytsch Volokytin , often also in the English spelling Andrei Volokitin ; born June 18, 1986 in Lemberg ) is a Ukrainian chess master.
Life
Wolokitin was Ukrainian youth champion U12 in 1997 and 1998. In 1998 in Oropesa del Mar he was second in the U12 World Youth Championship behind Teymur Rəcəbov . In 1999 he was third at the U14 World Cup. In 2001 he was runner- up in Ordzhonikidze of Ukraine after Alexander Berelowitsch . In the same year, at the age of 15, he was appointed grandmaster by FIDE and took part in the FIDE knockout world championship in Moscow , but was eliminated in the first round against the Russian Konstantin Sakajew (after rapid chess play, the regular competition ended 1-1). In 2003 Wolokitin won the Southampton Open in Bermuda , in 2004 he won the championship of the Ukraine in Kharkov, which was held according to the knockout system , with a 1.5-0.5 final victory over Anton Korobow . In 2005 he won together with Boris Gelfand in Biel , the same year the knockout tournament in Lucerne with a 2-0 final victory over the American Hikaru Nakamura . Along with Ruslan Ponomarjow , Serhij Karjakin and other young talents, Wolokitin is one of the pillars of the successful young Ukrainian chess school.
In 2007 he published the book Perfect your chess ( ISBN 978-1-904600-82-4 ) in collaboration with the chess trainer Wladimir Grabinski .
National team
Volokitin took part in the 2004 , 2006 , 2008 and 2012 Chess Olympiads with the Ukrainian national team, won with the team in 2004 and came third in 2012. He also represented Ukraine at the World Team Championship in 2005 and the European Team Championships in 2001, 2007, 2009 and 2013, with it in at the European Team Championships in 2009 Novi Sad both with the team and in the individual competition at the second board took third place.

In the Russian team championship , Wolokitin played for Gazovik Tyumen in 2002 , in 2004 and 2005 for Politechnik Nizhny Tagil , from 2006 to 2009 for TPS Saransk , with which he also took part twice in the European Club Cup, in 2013 for Economist Saratov and in 2014 for Ladja Kazan . In the Austrian Bundesliga , Wolokitin played from 2009 to 2019 for SK Sparkasse Jenbach , with whom he became champions in 2010 , 2011 , 2013 , 2015 and 2018 , in France from 2012 to 2014 for Bischwiller . In the Polish team championship in 2008 and 2009 Wolokitin played for Polonia Votum Wrocław , in the Chinese team championship in 2009 for the champions Shanghai Jianqiao University and in 2012 for the Guangdong Huateng Club . Wolokitin won the Bosnian Premier League in 2005 with ŠK Bosna Sarajevo , he also took part in the European Club in 2009 with SK Alkaloid Skopje (he achieved the best result on the third board), in 2011 with SOCAR Baku (he took second place with the team) and in 2012 with Ashdod (he won the individual ranking on the second board). In the Spanish team championship , Wolokitin played for CA Intel-Tiendas UPI Mancha Real from 2005 to 2007 and for CA Mérida Patrimonio-Ajoblanco in 2008, and he won the Hungarian team championship in 2018 and 2019 with Aquaprofit NTSK .
