Sachar Jefymenko (spelling at the World Chess Federation FIDE Zahar Efimenko ; Ukrainian Захар Олександрович Єфименко ; born July 3, 1985 in Makijiwka ) is a Ukrainian chess player . When he was four years old, his family moved to Kramatorsk .

Single successes

In 1999, he won the Spanish Oropesa del Mar , the World Youth Championship in the age group U14, 1998, he was still finished third in this category at the same place. In 2001 he won the Stork Young Masters in Hengelo , Group 2 of the Governor's Cup in Kramatorsk and the individual championship of the Donets Basin in Donetsk . In 2002 he finished second behind Konstantin Landa at the 5th Pyramiden-Franken-Cup in Fürth . In 2003 he won the Challenger tournament in Hastings . In 2004 he won Section A of the international tournament in Montreal . In 2005 he shared the victory at the Gibelcom Chess Festival in Gibraltar with Alexei Schirow , Levon Aronjan , Emil Sutovsky and Kiril Georgiev . In 2005 he finished second at the Ukrainian individual championship in Rivne , in 2006 in Poltava he was able to win the Ukrainian individual championship. At the Chess World Cup Jefymenko took in 2005 , 2009 and 2011 in part. While he failed in the first round to Gilberto Milos in 2009 , he reached the third round in 2005 and 2011.

Team chess

With the Ukrainian U16 national team he won the U16 Chess Olympiad in Artek in 1999 . At the U16 Chess Olympiad in 2000, also in Artek, he took second place with the Ukrainian national team. In the same year he won the European Championship in Balatonlelle with the Ukrainian U18 national team , where he received an individual gold medal for his result of 4.5 out of 6 on the third board. In 2001 he was again U18 team European champion in Balatonlelle, this time with a gold medal for his result of 6.5 out of 7 on the second board ( Elo performance 2755). In 2002 in Balatonlelle, the Ukrainian U18 took second place with him, and he also received an individual silver medal for his result of 5 out of 7 on the top board. For the national team of adults he played in 2003 at the European Championships in Plovdiv , the Chess Olympiads 2006 in Turin and 2008 in Dresden and the European Team Championships 2009 in Novi Sad , in which the Ukraine took third place. In 2010 he won the Chess Olympiad in Khanty-Mansiysk with the Ukraine, for which he played on board 4 . There he also received an individual silver medal for his result of 8.5 out of 11. In his three participation in Chess Olympiads with the Ukraine, he completed a total of 26 games, from which he got 17 points. He was a substitute player at the European Team Championship 2011 in Porto Carras and played on the third board at the European Team Championship 2013 in Warsaw . At the team world championship 2011 he reached third place with Ukraine.

He has played in the German Bundesliga since 2003 for Werder Bremen , with whom he became German team champion in 2005 and took part in the European Club Cup in 2005 and 2006 . In Ukraine he took part with Danko Donbass Donetsk from Kramatorsk in the European Club Cups in 2000 (as a reserve player without commitment) and 2001 (with 3 wins from 3 games). In 2001 Danko Donbass changed its name to AV Momot Chess Club , in 2006 Jefimenko switched to Keystone Kiew , the Ukrainian team champion in 2007 and 2008 (renamed PVK-Kievchess from 2008, third team at the Club Cup 2008 in Kallithea (Chalkidiki) with Sachar Jefymenko on the third board ). Jefymenko became Ukrainian team champions in 2002, 2007 and 2008. In the British Four Nations Chess League (4NCL) he played for Guildford A&DC in the 2004/05 season . He won the 2008/09 Asian Club Cup in al-Ain with the Al-Ain Chess Club from the United Arab Emirates. He also plays in the Serbian (for SK Radnički ), Russian (formerly for Politekhnik Nizhny Tagil , since 2009 for the Saint Petersburg Chess Federation , with which he became Russian team champion in 2013 and won the European Club Cup in 2011) and Hungarian 1st league ( formerly for the Aquaprofit NTSK team , with whom he won the title in the 2010/11 , 2011/12 , 2013/14 , 2014/15 , 2015/16 and 2017/18 seasons, in the 2019/20 season for DVTK Sport Korlátolt Felelősségű Társaság ). In the Slovakian extra league he played in the 2014/15 season for the champions ŠO ŠKM Angelus Stará Ľubovňa .

Title and rating

In 2001 he became International Master , and since 2002 he has been Grand Master . With his Elo number he was in fourth place in the Ukrainian Elo ranking (as of March 2011). His best place in the FIDE world rankings to date was 34th in January 2006.
