Anton Serhijowytsch Korobow ( Ukrainian Антон Сергійович Коробов ; born June 25, 1985 in Kemerovo , Soviet Union ) is a Ukrainian chess grandmaster .

Life

At the eighth Children's Chess Olympiad in Artek in 2000 , he played for the Ukrainian national team on the fourth board. The team received a silver medal and Korobow an individual gold medal for his result of 6.5 out of 8. At the U18 European Team Championships 2001 at Lake Balaton , he took first place with the Ukrainian national team on board three, ahead of Romania. The following year he played on board two. The team finished second and Korobov received an individual silver medal for his score of 5 out of 7.

In 2002 Korobov won the championship of Ukraine, in 2004 he finished second behind the champion Andrij Wolokitin . In 2009 and 2010 he won the Czech Open in Pardubice . For the first time a player was able to defend his title there. In 2012 he won the Ukraine championship for the second time with 8 points from 11 games (+5 = 6 −0). In December 2013 he won the European championship in blitz chess in Warsaw with 18.5 points from 22 games . Korobov took part in the World Chess Cup twice. While he failed in his first participation in 2011 in the second round to Nikita Vitjugow , he reached the quarter-finals in 2013 , in which he was defeated by the eventual tournament winner Vladimir Kramnik .

Korobow has held the title of Grand Master since 2003, and he achieved the required standards in November 2001 at the Governors Cup in Kramatorsk and in March 2003 at the Anibal Open in Linares .

National team

Korobov was first appointed to the Ukrainian national team for the 2013 World Team Championship. The team reached third place, Korobow won the individual ranking on the second board. He took part in a chess Olympiad for the first time in 2014 in Tromsø (on the fourth board) and in a European team championship for the first time in 2015 in Reykjavík .

In the Ukrainian team championship in 2001 Korobov played for the Mriya Grandmaster School Kiev , with which he was second, in 2002 for Grandmaster-1 Kramatorsk , with which he became champion, and in the same year at the European Club Cup (under the club name ShK A. Momot Donetsk ) took part in 2006 for the team from the National Tauride Vernadsky University in Simferopol , which took third place, in 2009 for the Kharkiv Law Academy , which also came third, and in 2010 and 2011 for the team A DAN DZO & PGMB Chernihiv , with whom he was Ukrainian team champion in both years and took part in the European Club Cup (he reached third place with the team in 2010 and won the individual ranking on the second board). In the Russian team championship he played in 2012 and 2013 at Yugra Khanty-Mansiysk and took part with this team in both years in the European Club Cup. In 2015 he won both the Russian team championship and the European Club Cup with Siberia Novosibirsk . He won the Czech Extra League in 2000 with ŠK Infinity Pardubice , and has been playing for BŠŠ Frýdek-Místek since 2011 . In Germany, Korobow has been playing at SC Viernheim since the 2016/17 season , initially in the 2nd Bundesliga and since 2018 in the 1st Bundesliga .
