SC Viernheim
The Schachclub Viernheim 1934 eV is a German chess club, whose team competes in the general game operation in the German Chess League. Although located in Hesse, Viernheim is a member of the Baden Chess Association , Mannheim district, in whose leagues the lower teams play.
history
The association was founded on October 25, 1934. In the 1987/1988 season, the SC Viernheim succeeded for the first time promotion to the second division, where they established themselves in the 1990s. In the 1997/98 season the SC succeeded for the first time promotion to the top German league, but in the 1998/99 season followed with the penultimate rank but the immediate relegation. Even after promotion to the Bundesliga in 2013, relegation followed in the 2013/2014 season as bottom of the table without a win. In the 2017/18 season Viernheim was again champion of the 2nd League South, qualified for the 2018/19 season of the Chess Bundesliga and reached 5th place there.
