Günther Jakob Beikert (born July 16, 1968 in Viernheim ) is a German chess player .

successes

On 10/11 In February 1990 he won a 24-hour marathon blitz tournament in Dresden . It was the "largest blitz tournament in the world". 304 participants played 15,711 games; each of the players had either 102 or 106 games to play. In 1994 he was runner-up at the FISU World Championship in Sofia .

Team chess

With the team of SC Viernheim he played mostly in the 2nd Bundesliga South , in 1998/99 for one season in the 1st Bundesliga . From 2000 to 2002 he played at SC Baden-Oos in the Oberliga Baden and 2nd Bundesliga South before returning to SC Viernheim . From the 2007/08 season he played again in the German Chess League, this time for the Hamburger SK . Since the 2009/10 season he has been active again for SC Viernheim , including the 2013/14 season and again since 2018 in the 1st Bundesliga. With Viernheim, Beikert also took part in the European Club Cup 2019. In the French league he played from 1989 to 1994 for Rouen , from 1994 to 2006 for the Club de Orcher la Tour Gonfreville and from 2009 for Gif sur Yvette . In the Austrian State League B he played from 1997 to 2000 for SV Grieskirchen . Beikert plays for the Baden Chess Association in international matches .

Chess association

From 2000 to 2007 he was the representative of the regional associations at the competitive sports commission of the German Chess Federation . Günther Beikert is the son of the long-time president (1994–2004) of the Baden Chess Association, Eberhard Beikert.

In 1992 he won the Baden championship in Ladenburg . The international master (since 1993) received his doctorate in 1999 at the University of Heidelberg on the subject of neutron transport calculations as an aid for measuring the neutron yield from fusion experiments .
