The Badische Schachverband eV (BSV) is a regional association of the German Chess Federation and the organization of chess players in the Baden part of Baden-Württemberg . It was founded on May 8, 1910 and is based in Karlsruhe .
organization
The association is led by a presidium, which includes the president as chairman, three vice-presidents (including the vice-president for finance), the secretary, the sports director, the head of press / public relations and the 1st chairwoman of the Baden Youth Chess Association.
Another statutory body is the Extended Presidium, which consists of the Presidium itself and other functionaries, mostly appointed by the Presidium and confirmed by the Association Day, as well as the district leaders of the 11 chess districts.
Districts are (01) Mannheim, (02) Heidelberg, (03) Odenwald, (04) Karlsruhe, (05) Pforzheim, (06) Mittelbaden, (07) Ortenau, (08) Freiburg, (09) Hochrhein, (10) Black Forest and (11) Lake Constance.
The Association Day, the highest body of the FSIO, meets once a year and elects the members of the Presidium for three years each. The members of the Extended Presidium and the district delegates have the right to vote in the Association Day.
Game operation
In tournament chess, the top division is the Oberliga, which is classified under the second Bundesliga South Chess League. Since the league structure reform in the 2012/13 season, these include two association leagues, four national leagues and eight divisional leagues.
Below the divisional leagues, the district's gaming operations are structured with the district leagues as the top division. As of the 2017/18 season, the Odenwald district league is below the Heidelberg district league.
The league structure reform in 2012 ended the division into six regions, each with a regional and a division league. Since then, the districts have not been assigned to a specific division league and the teams are divided according to geographical criteria, regardless of district affiliation.
In addition to the tournament, which is open to all age groups, there are also senior and youth chess leagues.
The Baden Chess Association is represented in the 1st Chess Bundesliga in the 2018/19 season with the German champions OSG Baden-Baden , SV 1930 Hockenheim and SC Viernheim .
