The Chess Association 1930 Hockenheim e. V. is a chess club from the north Baden city of Hockenheim .

History of the club

It was founded in 1929 and the name was given on September 25, 1930 as an outsourcing from the Hockenheimer sports club . Club tournaments with city championships took place from 1933. In the 1930s there were battles between Hockenheim and Schwetzingen. A highlight of the 1930s was a simultaneous event with Efim Bogolyubov . Between 1940 and 1945 there was no game operation due to the war. The 1950s to 1970s saw team fights at the association level and the formation of parts of the club with reunions. In 1980 there was a simultaneous event with the then vice world champion Viktor Korchnoi , in 1990 with András Adorján . In April 1994, SV Hockenheim hosted the 67th Baden Chess Congress. The former world chess champion Anatoli Karpov has been a member of the club since a simultaneous event in 1994 . The first international tournament also took place in 1994 at SV Hockenheim with a tournament in rapid chess . Viktor Gavrikov won the tournament ahead of Aleksander Wojtkiewicz and Igor Glek . The best German was Rustem Dautov . In 1996 the International German Chess Championships were organized by the club, hosted by the Racket Center in Nussloch . The winner was Rustem Dautov. In 2000, 2003 and 2010 the German Rapid Chess Championship took place at SV Hockenheim , in 2000 for women and men, in 2003 and 2010 for men. The German amateur championship ( Ramada Cup ) was held for the 75th anniversary of the club in 2005 at SV Hockenheim. In 2009 and 2010, the Baden Cup team championship.

In the 2010/11 season, Hockenheim played for the first time in the club's history in the 2nd Bundesliga South, and Hockenheim has played in the Bundesliga since the 2011/12 season .
