SG tower Kiel
The chess community Turm Kiel (short: SG Turm Kiel ) is a chess club whose first team competes in the German Federal Chess League.
history
The association was founded in 1910 by workers in the south of Kiel. In 1933 the chess community was banned by the National Socialists . In 1951 the club was re-established as the Kiel – Ost chess club from 1910 , and in 1953 it merged with the Kiel Süd club to form the 1910 Kiel Süd – Ost chess club . Due to the numerous activists of the DKP who belonged to the club at that time, some players split off from the club and thus from the political orientation of the club and founded the SG Turm Kiel. In the 2017/2018 season, the club finished the season in the 2nd Bundesliga North as champions and thus rose to the top German division.
