history

The club emerged in 1970 from the merger between the chess clubs SV Kreuzfeld and Springer Schach Dümpten , founded in 1931 and 1965 . Until 1991 practically as a pure social club, i.e. more geared towards fun and less towards sporting success, from this time onwards it developed into a performance-oriented sports club . The women's team also plays in the highest German division, the women's Bundesliga. As one of the few chess clubs, it has its own clubhouse with sole usage rights .
