The Ooser Schachgesellschaft Baden-Baden 1922 e. V. ( OSG Baden-Baden ) is a German chess club based in Baden-Baden .

The club has around 250 members, has eight men's teams from district class III to the German Chess League , a women's team and numerous youth teams .

history

The club was founded in 1930 as the Baden-Oos chess club by 15 chess friends in the Baden-Oos inn "Goldener Stern". In the 1998/1999 season, the club played in the Landesliga Mittelbaden, which corresponded to the fifth German division. After that, Wolfgang Grenke, the CEO of Grenkeleasing AG , began sponsoring the club and thus enabled its steady athletic advancement. Under the leadership of Jürgen Gersinska, the club was founded in December 2004 in Ooser Schachclub von 1930 Baden-Baden e. V. (short: OSC Baden-Baden) renamed. After a conflict with the sponsor about the budget for the women's team, Jürgen Gersinska resigned in 2005; he was succeeded by Helmut Zanner in the office of first chairman. On June 20, 2008, the general assembly decided to join forces with the Schachgesellschaft Baden-Baden 1922 e. V. to merge and the club name in "Ooser Schachgesellschaft (OSG) Baden-Baden 1922 e. V. ”to change.

Sporting successes

German team champion 2017

In 2002 the first team was promoted to the 1st Bundesliga. After an 8th place in 2003, a 2nd place in 2004 and a 3rd place in 2005, the intended goal of the German championship title was initially not achieved. At the end of the 2005/06 season, the Bundesliga team, under the leadership of Sven Noppes, became German team champions for the first time and defended the title in every season until the 2014/15 season.

In 2019, OSG Baden-Baden won the German team championship for the thirteenth time and thus became German record champions.

2002/03 (Svidler, Krasenkow, Hübner, Dautow) and 2004/05 (Svidler, Krasenkow, Dautow, Hübner) against SG Porz , 2006/07 (Krasenkow, Nielsen, Döttling, Schenk) and 2007/08 (Naiditsch, Krasenkow , Döttling, Schlosser) against the Solingen SG 1868 , OSG Baden-Baden won the German Cup team championship, each with a final victory. In 2009/10 (Movsesian, Naiditsch, Schlosser, Dautow) the trophy was won again, this time again against SG Porz, 2011/12 (Meier, Naiditsch, Döttling, Gustafsson) followed the final victory against SK Norderstedt , 2013/14 again against SG Porz and 2014/15 against SC Rotation Pankow (each with Naiditsch, Nisipeanu, Dautow, Döttling).

The women's team of OSG Baden-Baden won the German team championship from 2003 to 2005, 2008 to 2013 and 2015 to 2016.

The youth team (U20) also became German champions in 2005.

Playroom

Since Easter 2009 the OSG has had its home in the Baden-Baden chess center in the LA8 culture house in Lichtentaler Allee , in the immediate vicinity of the Kurhaus , theater and Burda Museum . Previously, the club was housed in the Markgraf-Ludwig-Gymnasium, the Bundesliga matches were held in the casino of the main sponsor Grenkeleasing AG .
