Peter Heine Nielsen (born May 24, 1973 in Holstebro ) is a Danish chess master of the world's elite.

Life

At the beginning of the 1990s, while still a teenager, Nielsen drew attention to his enormous ability: in 1991 he won the tournament for the national championship of Denmark together with Erling Mortensen , only in the play-off did he lose to the experienced international champion with 2.5-3.5 . Nielsen made soon after rapid progress, in 1993 he won in Pinsk , in 1994 he gave the FIDE the Grandmaster title . 1997 he won in Asker , 1999 in Gausdal (Nordic Championship), 2000 the New York Open , 2001 Esbjerg , 2002/03 Hastings , 2003 Skanderborg , 2004 in Malmö / Copenhagen , 2004 he won together with Alexei Schirow in Drammen . In 2006 Nielsen won a blind chess tournament in Aalborg in front of the Norwegian chess star Magnus Carlsen .

Nielsen won the championship of Denmark in 1996, 1999, 2001, 2003 and 2008. In 2004 he became European champion in internet blitz chess with a 2.5: 0.5 win in the final against Michael Adams . Nielsen is because of its human and chess qualities highly valued analysis partner of various world-class chess players, among other things, he was previously Sekundant of Viswanathan Anand and Magnus Carlsen.

Nielsen studied history in Aarhus and now lives (2017) with his wife and son in Šiauliai, Lithuania . He is in first place in the Danish ranking list (as of May 2017).

National team

Nielsen took part in the chess Olympiads in 1994 , 1996 , 2000 , 2002 , 2004 , 2006 and 2008 with the Danish national team, and in 1994 he achieved the third-best individual result on the third board in Moscow . In 2005 and 2007 he took part in the European team championship , he achieved the best individual result on the top board in Gothenburg in 2005 .

With Baden-Baden he also took part in the European Club Cup four times and in 2011 achieved the third-best individual result on the fifth board. At the German Blitzmannschaftsmeisterschaft 2002 in Solingen, he achieved the best board result on the first board. In the Austrian State League A he played from 1997 to 1999 and in the 2001/02 season for SK Sparkasse Fürstenfeld . In the Swedish Elitserien he has played for SK Rockaden Stockholm since 1998 and was team champion with them in 2001 , 2004 , 2005 , 2008 , 2009 , 2014 and 2016 . Nielsen won the British Four Nations Chess League in 2005 and 2006 with Wood Green , in the French Top 16 he played for the NAO Paris team from 2003 to 2007 and was French team champion with them in 2004 , 2005 and 2006 . In the Spanish team championship Nielsen played for CA Valencia-Cuna del Ajedrez Moderno in 2004 and 2005 , and in 2007 for CA Reverté Albox .

Success in Shogi

Since 2014 Nielsen has also been actively playing the Japanese chess variant Shogi . Here he has the master rank 2nd Dan and is with an Elo rating of 1870 in first place in the Danish ranking list (as of January 2018) . In December 2014, he took part in the sixth International Shogi Forum in Shizuoka for his country . In November 2015 he won the Gothenburg Open and in May 2017 he won the Danish Shogi Championship against Carsten Hellegard.

family

Nielsen is married to the Lithuanian chess player Viktorija Čmilytė-Nielsen (* 1983). The two have a son.
