Davor Palo (born November 2, 1985 in Sarajevo ) is a Danish chess player .
Life
Palo learned chess in Sarajevo in 1993. He and his family came to Denmark as a war refugee in December 1993 , first to Allerød Kommune , then to Ry and Skanderborg . He now lives in Budapest . He played his first chess tournament in 1995.
Chess successes
In 2002 he received the title of International Master . At the age of 19, he became the grandmaster in August 2005 , making him the youngest Dane to ever succeed. He achieved the standards for this at the Danish Individual Championship 2003 in Horsens , where he finished second behind Peter Heine Nielsen , at the Gausdal Classics GM tournament in 2004 and at the Jean-Claude Loubatière Festival in Montpellier in 2005, which he won. In 2004 he won the 39th International Youth Festival in Hallberg , 2005, the Master Tournament in Ribe . In the same year he received the Danish Schachoskar from the Dansk Skak Union . After a period of inactivity, he won the Danish individual championship in Helsingør in 2013 .
For the Danish national team he took part in four chess Olympiads ( 2002 , 2004 , 2006 and 2014 ) and two European team championships (2005 and 2013). When he was nominated in 2002, he was the youngest ever to play for the Danish national team at a Chess Olympiad.
Until 1999 he was a member of the Ry Skakklub . In the same year he joined the "Skolernes Skakklub", to which he belonged for the next six years. Since 2012 he has been playing for Skanderborg Skakklub ( Team Nordea Skb until 2014 ), with whom he was Danish team champion in 2013 and 2015 . In Germany he played in the 2. Bundesliga North for Preetzer TSV and in the Swedish Elitserien in the 2002/03 season for Helsingborgs ASK and in 2005/06 for Linköpings Allmäna Schacksällskap . He played at the European Club Cup in 2002 for SK 1968 Århus .
In May 2015, he was fourth in the Danish Elo ranking.
