Lars Bo Hansen

Lars Bo Hansen (born September 24, 1968 in Nykøbing Falster ) is a Danish chess player . He was the third Dane to be awarded the title of Grand Master .

Life

Lars Bo Hansen studied economics at Copenhagen Business School and graduated with an MBA . He was assistant professor, first at the CEUS Handelshøjskolecenter in Nykøbing Falster , then at the Institute for Management and Strategy at the Syddansk Universitet in Slagelse and now at the Florida Institute of Technology in Melbourne , Florida . He is married to the chess player Evgenia Peicheva-Hansen ( WIM , * 1968), whom he met at the Junior World Championship in Adelaide in 1988 . His son Martin (* 1990) also had an Elo rating of over 2100. Lars Bo Hansen has been the trainer of the Danish national chess team since April 2009.

Chess successes

In 1990 he won the Liechtenstein Open . In 1993/94 he was first at the Rilton Cup in Stockholm . In 1993 and 1997 he was Danish champion . In 1995 and 2000 he won the Copenhagen Open .

He took part in six Chess Olympiads for Denmark , in 1988 and 1990 on board 2, 1994 and 2008 on board 1, 2000 and 2006 on board 3. In 1990 in Novi Sad he received an individual bronze medal for his result of 8 out of 11. His overall result was Chess Olympiads is +22 = 31 −10 (22 wins, 31 draws and 10 losses). In addition, Hansen took part in four European team championships between 1992 and 2009 .

In Germany he played for Lübecker SV , with whom he was able to become German champions in 2001 , 2002 and 2003 . He was also able to become team champion in Denmark in 1999 and 2000 with the SK 34 Nykøbing . Hansen also took part in the European Club Cup in 1999 with the SK 34 Nykøbing . He achieved 2.5 points from 3 games on the top board in the preliminary round, but could not prevent his team from being eliminated.

In 1987 he received the title of International Master , in 1990 the title of Grand Master. His Elo rating is 2560 (as of February 2019), which puts him in fourth place in the Danish Elo ranking. but is listed as inactive by the World Chess Federation FIDE , as he has not played an Elo-rated game since the 23rd Space Coast Open in Cocoa Beach in April 2016 . His highest rating to date was 2586 from July 2001 to June 2002.
