Cocoa Beach is a city in Brevard County in the US state of Florida with 11,231 inhabitants (as of 2010).
geography
Cocoa Beach is located between the Indian River (part of the Intracoastal Waterway ) and the Atlantic Ocean on Florida's east coast. The city is located around 40 km south of Titusville and around 90 km southeast of Orlando .
Religions
In Cocoa Beach there are currently 14 different churches from 8 different denominations, of which the Catholic Church is most strongly represented with 2 churches. There are 4 churches that do not belong to any denomination (status: 2004).
Demographic data
According to the 2010 census, the then 11,231 inhabitants were distributed over 8,866 households. The population density was 884.3 inh / km². 95.6% of the population identified themselves as white , 0.8% as African-American , 0.4% as Native American and 1.5% as Asian Americans . 0.5% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 1.2% to several ethnic groups. 3.2% of the population was made up of Hispanics or Latinos .
In 2010 there were children under the age of 18 in 13.6% of all households and persons aged at least 65 in 46.2% of all households. 51.8% of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or a parent with offspring). The average household size was 1.88 people and the average family size was 2.47 people.
12.4% of the population were younger than 20 years, 13.1% were 20 to 39 years old, 31.9% were 40 to 59 years old, and 42.4% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 56 years. 50.0% of the population were male and 50.0% were female.
The median annual income was $ 53,951, with 8.1% of the population living below the poverty line.
In 2000, English was the mother tongue of 92.58% of the population, 2.92% spoke Spanish and 4.50% had another mother tongue.
