Mims is a census-designated place (CDP) in Brevard County in the US state of Florida with 7058 inhabitants (as of 2010).
geography
Mims is located on the east coast of Florida on the Indian River , which forms part of the Intracoastal Waterway . Mims borders the city of Titusville to the south and is about 60 km east of Orlando . The CDP is crossed by Interstate 95 , US Highway 1 ( SR 5 ) and Florida State Road 46 .
Demographic data
According to the 2010 census, the then 7,058 inhabitants were distributed over 3,530 households. The population density was 137.6 inh / km². 83.9% of the population identified themselves as whites , 12.4% as African-Americans , 0.4% as Indians, and 0.7% as Asian Americans . 0.8% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 1.8% to several ethnic groups. 3.1% of the population was made up of Hispanics or Latinos .
In 2010 children under 18 years of age and 38.7% of all households lived in 25.7% of all households with persons at least 65 years of age. 70.0% of the households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring). The average household size was 2.45 people and the average family size was 2.87 people.
21.5% of the population were younger than 20 years old, 17.8% were 20 to 39 years old, 31.2% were 40 to 59 years old, and 29.6% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 48 years. 49.6% of the population were male and 50.4% were female.

In 2000, English was the first language of 97.99% of the population and 2.01% had another mother tongue.
