Port St. John is a census-designated place (CDP) in Brevard County in the US state of Florida with 12,267 inhabitants (as of 2010).

Port St. John is located on the Indian River near the east coast of Florida, around 5 km south of Titusville and around 60 km east of Orlando . The CDP is crossed by US Highway 1 ( SR 5 ).

Demographic data

According to the 2010 census, the then 12,267 inhabitants were distributed over 5,183 households. The population density was 1239.1 inh / km². 89.5% of the population identified themselves as whites, 5.5% as African American , 0.5% as Indians and 1.0% as Asian Americans . 1.2% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 2.3% to several ethnic groups. 6.0% of the population was made up of Hispanics or Latinos .

In 2010 children under the age of 18 lived in 34.2% of all households and persons aged at least 65 years in 23.5% of all households. 73.1% of the households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or a parent with offspring). The average household size was 2.61 and the average family size was 2.97.

25.5% of the population were younger than 20 years, 22.7% were 20 to 39 years old, 33.8% were 40 to 59 years old, and 18.0% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 41 years. 49.8% of the population were male and 50.2% were female.

The median annual income was $ 56,188, with 13.0% of the population living below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the first language of 96.99% of the population, 2.09% spoke Spanish and 0.92% had another mother tongue.
