Malabar is a city in Brevard County in the US state of Florida with 3,077 inhabitants (as of 2017).
geography
Malabar borders directly on the cities of Palm Bay and Grant-Valkaria and is located on the Intracoastal Waterway in the immediate vicinity of the Atlantic Ocean . The city is about 60 km south of Titusville and 110 km southeast of Orlando .
Demographic data
According to the 2010 census, the then 2757 inhabitants were distributed among 1239 households. The population density was 100.3 inh / km². 91.7% of the population identified themselves as white, 3.9% as African-American , 0.5% as Native American and 0.9% as Asian Americans . 0.6% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 2.4% to several ethnic groups. 4.1% of the population was made up of Hispanics or Latinos .
In 2010 there were children under the age of 18 in 25.2% of all households and persons aged at least 65 years in 32.5% of all households. 71.6% of the households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring). The average household size was 2.45 people and the average family size was 2.87 people.
20.6% of the population were younger than 20 years, 13.4% were 20 to 39 years old, 38.2% were 40 to 59 years old, and 27.9% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 50 years. 52.3% of the population were male and 47.7% were female.
The median annual income was $ 63,672, with 8.3% of the population living below the poverty line.
In 2000, English was the mother tongue of 100% of the population.
