Chess Olympiad 1990

The 29th Chess Olympiad took place from November 16 to December 4, 1990 in Novi Sad , Yugoslavia . It was organized by FIDE and consisted of an open and a women's competition. In addition, various attractions took place to make chess known.

The game was played at the Spens Sports Center . 108 teams with a total of 636 players took part, including 103 Grand Masters , 121 International Masters and 67 FIDE Masters . Each team played on 4 boards in the Swiss system, so that teams with equal points competed against each other. Time controls were after 2 hours for the first 40 trains, then one hour for 20 more trains. The only debutant was the team from Vietnam.
