Overview

prehistory

The 2nd Women's Chess Olympiad was originally planned for 1961 and was to be held again in Emmen . However, due to the political situation at the time, the GDR team did not receive an entry visa for the Netherlands. As a staging according to the FIDE statutes - participation for all member associations of FIDE - was not possible, this Olympiad had to be canceled.

Tournament implementation

15 teams with a total of 41 players, including one IM ( international men's master ) and 14 international women's champions, took part in the competition. The 15 teams played a round-robin tournament , with two players per team. The time to consider was two and a half hours for 40 trains, then one hour for 16 trains each time. The placement was determined based on the board points (BP), team points (MP) and the direct comparison.

The Olympics took place at the Marian Hotel. The tournament director was Stanko Hrašovec from Yugoslavia. The main judge was Olga Rubzowa from the Soviet Union . The referee was Braslav Rabar from Yugoslavia.
