Chess Olympiad 1950
The 9th Chess Olympiad took place from August 20th to September 11th 1950 in Dubrovnik / Yugoslavia in today's Croatia .
Overview
16 teams took part in a round-robin tournament to determine the Olympic champion. Greece was there for the first time. 84 players took part in the competition, including four grandmasters and 23 international champions. With Chantal Chaudé de Silans , a woman took part in a chess Olympiad for the first time. The tournament was played with teams of four, with up to two substitutes allowed. It was played in the Dubrovnik Art Hall. The main referee was Hans Kmoch from Austria . The time to consider was two and a half hours for 40 trains, then one hour for 16 trains each time. The placements were determined based on the board points (BP).
