Stojan Puc (born April 9, 1921 in Novo mesto , † January 29, 2004 in Kranj ) was a Yugoslav chess player .

In February 1950 he took part in the radio competition USA against Yugoslavia and won 1.5: 0.5 against Arthur Dake . Puc won the Slovenian individual championship four times: 1954 (shared first with Cveto Trampuž ), 1958, 1965 (shared first with Janez Podkrajšek ) and 1967. He took part in the Yugoslav individual championship seventeen times . In 1947 and 1951 he finished third and in 1961 shared second. He won the 1950 Chess Olympiad in Dubrovnik while playing with Yugoslavia on the second reserve board .

In 1950 he was awarded the title of International Master (IM), in 1984 the title of Honorary Grand Master (HGM). According to the historical Elo number calculated by Jeff Sonas , he was with an Elo number of 2600 in October 1951 on the 49th place in the world rankings. After the independence of Slovenia he was listed by FIDE for Slovenia, but at that time he was no longer active as a chess player.
