Dražen Sermek

Dražen Sermek (born January 30, 1969 in Osijek ) is a Croatian chess player . Until March 2007 he played for the Slovenian Chess Federation.

Life

Sermek won the Slovenian Chess Championship in 1993 and 1998. In 2001 he was first at the Pula Open. In 2002 he won the New White Plus GM competition in Dhaka and landed together with Mladen Palac , Zdenko Kožul , Wladimir Burmakin and Ognjen Cvitan at the Casino HIT NG Open in Nova Gorica on places 1-5. In 2008, he and Marat Dzhumaev , Darwin Laylo , Susanto Megaranto and Aschot Nadanjan received the 3rd – 7th. Place at the 5th Dato 'Arthur Tan Malaysia Open Championship in Kuala Lumpur and first at the MCF GM competition, which was also held in Kuala Lumpur.

In 1990 he became an international master and has been a grand master since 1994 . His Elo rating is 2471 (as of July 2016), his highest rating to date was 2603 in July 2002.

National team

Sermek took with the Slovenian national team at the Chess Olympiads in 1994 , 2000 , 2002 , 2004 and 2006 and the European Team Championships in 1997, 2001 and 2003 in part.

societies

In Croatia Sermek played for the ŠK Mursa Osijek and the ŠK Pula , in Slovenia for the ŠK Triglav Krško . He took part in the European Club Cup with all three clubs , the greatest success being fourth place in 1996 with the ŠK Mursa Osijek . In the Austrian Bundesliga and State League he played for SK Zell am Ziller in the 1999/2000 season and for SK Mayrhofen in the 2004/05 season .
