Iván Eduardo Morovic Fernández ( Spanish Iván Morovic ; born March 24, 1963 in Viña del Mar ) is a Chilean chess player . In 2000 he switched to the Croatian Chess Federation, in 2001 he switched back to the Chilean Chess Federation.

He won the Chilean championship once: 1981. In 1993 he won a tournament in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria ahead of Viswanathan Anand and Alexander Chalifman .

He was Spanish club champion in 1988 and 1990 with the CA La Caja de Canarias .

He played for Chile in fourteen Chess Olympiads : 1978 to 1990 , 1996 , 2002 , 2004 , 2010 , 2012 , 2016 and 2018 , and he also competed in the 2000 Chess Olympiad for Croatia.

In 1980 he became International Master, since 1986 he has held the title of Grand Master, making him the first Chilean chess grandmaster. He has been a FIDE trainer since 2016.
