Alojzije Janković (born April 2, 1983 in Zagreb ) is a Croatian chess player . He is the chess grandmaster and general secretary of the FIDE zone Croatia.

Life

In 1998 he won the Croatian U17 individual championship in Hvar . In 2006 he won the Zagreb Open before Zdenko Kožul and Ivan Šarić , 2008, he won the first International Open of Sabadell . In the national individual championship held in January 2009 in 2008 he was split first and was defeated in the subsequent playoff to Ivan Šarić after an opening win with 1.5: 2.5. He won the 2014 national individual championship, held in Opatija in January 2015 , unbeaten with 7 points from 11 games as the sole winner.

At the European team championship in 2000 in Balatonlelle , he played on the second board of the Croatian U18 national team. He took part in Mitropa Cups four times with the Croatian national team. In 2004 on Zemplínska šírava Croatia won the cup with Janković on the top board, in 2005 with him on the second board Croatia came second in Steinbrunn , 2006, when he played again on the first board, third in Brno . He won the Mitropa Cup for the second time in Meißen in 2013 , where he also received the award for the best Elo performance on the second board. He also took part in two European team championships : 2007 in Heraklion and 2009 in Novi Sad on the first reserve board. At the 2010 Chess Olympiad in Khanty-Mansiysk , he also played on the first reserve board.

He played club chess in Croatia until 2007 for ŠK Liburnija Rijeka , and since 2008 for Hašk Mladost Zagreb . He also frequently plays in the team championship of Bosnia and Herzegovina , the Premijer Liga, in 2003 for the ŠK Bihać , in 2005 for the TŠK Sloboda Tuzla and since 2008 for the ŠK Napredak Sarajevo . He has been playing in the Slovenian National League since 2009 and in the Austrian 1st Bundesliga from 2011 to 2013 for SK Advisory Invest Baden , with whom he won the team championship in the 2011/12 season. In Germany he plays for SC Gelnhausen , in Hungary he has played for Szombathelyi MÁV Haladás VSE since the 2015/16 season .

In June 2006 he was awarded the title of Chess Grandmaster. He achieved the norms for this in February 2005 at the FIT Open in Cannes (with overachievement), in November 2005 at the Croatian individual championship in Vukovar , where he remained unbeaten, and in May 2006 in the B group of the 36th International GM Tournament in Sarajevo . Since April 2018 he has also had the FIDE title International Organizer.
