Mladen Palac (born February 18, 1971 in Donji Mamići , Socialist Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina ) is a Croatian chess player .
He won the Croatian individual championship four times: 2001 in Pula , 2004 in Zagreb , 2008 in Rijeka and 2012 in Opatija . He played for Croatia at seven Chess Olympiads : 1996 and 2006 to 2016 . He also took part in the European team championships seven times (1997 to 1999, 2005 to 2007 and 2011 to 2015) and once in the team world championship (1997). At the Chess World Cup 2017 he failed in the first round to Jan Nepomnjaschtschi .
In Germany he played for the Wiesbaden chess club in 1885 .
In 1990 he was awarded the title of International Master (IM), and in 1993 the title of Grand Master (GM).
