Susanto Megaranto (born October 8, 1987 in Indramayu , Jawa Barat ) is an Indonesian chess player .

Life

Megaranto won three Indonesian youth championships: U12 1997 in Banda Aceh , U14 1999 in Bekasi and U20 2001 in Denpasar . At the U12 World Cup in 1999 in Oropesa del Mar , Spain , he finished tied with second-placed Daniël Stellwagen behind Wang Yue, tied for third place, and at the U14 World Cup in 2001 at the same location, he finished fourth. In December 2004 he won the Masters in Singapore and in May 2011 the zone tournament in Tagaytay . He won the Indonesian championship four times in a row: 2006 in Batam , 2007 in Surabaya , 2009 in Palangka Raya and 2010 in Manado (the championship was not held in 2008). He also won the Indonesian rapid chess championship in Palangka Raya in 2009 .

In 2002 he played on the top board in the third place of the Indonesian national team at the U16 Chess Olympiad in Kuala Lumpur . There he also received an individual silver medal for his result of 7.5 out of 10. He took part in seven Chess Olympiads for Indonesia : 2002 , 2004 , 2006 , 2008 , 2010 , 2012 and 2014 with an overall result of 48 points from 77 games ( +34 = 28 −15), also at the Asian team championships in 2009 and 2012, at the chess competitions of the Asian Games 2006 in Doha , where he won an individual gold medal for his result of 7 out of 9 on the second board, and the chess competitions at the Asian Indoor Games 2009.

He plays for the Jakarta team in Asian city comparisons and for the Qinhuangdao Evening News in the Chinese team championship . He has been international champion since 2003, he met the required standards in July 2002 at a GM tournament in Surabaya and at the Indonesian championship in 2003 in Jakarta. For Grandmaster Megaranto was appointed of 2004. At 17 he was the youngest grandmaster in Indonesia's chess history. He received the grandmaster title for his performance of 9 points from 14 games at the 2004 Chess Olympiad. In February 2015, he tops the Indonesian Elo ranking of active players.
