Matej Šebenik (born August 28, 1983 in Ljubljana ) is a Slovenian chess player .
He played for Slovenia at six Chess Olympiads : 2002 (for the host country's B team) and 2010 to 2018 . He also took part in four European team championships (2009, 2011 , 2015 and 2017) and several Mitropa cups (2003, 2005 to 2008, 2012 and 2015).
In Austria he played for SV Rapid Feffernitz , with whom he became Austrian team champion in 2016/17 . He was Luxembourg team champion in 2016/17 with Gambit Bonnevoie .
In 2003 he was awarded the title of International Master (IM) and in 2012 the title of Grand Master (GM). He has held the title of FIDE Trainer since 2013. Among other things, he trained Zala Urh .
