Milan Vidmar junior

Milan Vidmar (born December 16, 1909 in Weiz , Austria-Hungary , † November 10, 1980 in Ljubljana (Laibach), Yugoslavia ) was a Yugoslav electrical engineer and chess player . He was the son of the chess grandmaster Milan Vidmar (1885–1962).

In 1938 he finished 9-10. Place at the tournament in Ljubljana ( Boris Kostić won, father Milan Vidmar senior reached shared 5th place). In 1942 he shared 1st place with Efim Bogoljubow in Cottbus.

He shared 2nd to 3rd place with his father, behind Svetozar Gligorić , at the tournament in Ljubljana 1945/46, finished 6th in Karlsbad / Marienbad in 1948 ( Jan Foltys won ), shared 8th place in Vienna in 1951 at the 4th Schlechter Memorial ( Moshe Czerniak won ) and 10th in Opatija in 1953 (winner Aleksandar Matanović ).

Vidmar jr. played for Yugoslavia on the first reserve board (+4 = 2 −0) at the 9th Chess Olympiad in Dubrovnik in 1950. His team won the gold medal.

He was awarded the title of International Master in 1950.
