Hans-Hilmar Staudte
Hans-Hilmar Staudte (born January 18, 1911 in Kaldenkirchen , † January 21, 1979 in Münster ) was a German lawyer and chess master and composer .
Personal and professional
Staudte studied law and received his doctorate in 1940 at the University of Hamburg with the dissertation "Unreasonableness and the concept of criminal law".
During the Second World War , Staudte took over as deputy head of the Lebensborn legal department. According to his own information, he was a judge at the NSDAP Gaugericht in Munich and SS-Obersturmführer , was married and had a child who died young.
After the end of the war he was in Allied custody. Staudte testified as a witness during the Nuremberg trials .
He later worked as a ministerial advisor in the Federal Ministry of Finance in Bonn until he retired at the age of 65 . In favor of the professional career, he ended his activities in tournament chess. In 1979 he died after a long illness.
Tournament chess
Staudte started out with tournament chess. In 1925 he became a member of the Aachen Chess Club in 1856 . In 1935 he was split second in the championship of the Lower Rhine Chess Association. In 1941 he won in Starnberg as part of the Bavarian Chess Congress in one of three championship tournaments held in parallel, which enabled him to gain promotion to the championship tournament. In 1950 he finished in the German championship in Bad Pyrmont together with Bogoljubow the shared 2nd place behind Unzicker . In the same year he was third with the German national team at the 1950 Chess Olympiad in Dubrovnik, with his score of 7.5 points from 12 games he also achieved the third-best result of the reserve players.
His best historical rating was 2,620, which he reached in June 1950.

Staudte dealt intensively with endgame studies . He composed studies himself that were published in magazines and FIDE albums .

Staudte himself described this study as a "simple but instructive" example with a practical reference to the game of chess and positional play.
For decades he edited the study section of the magazine Schach-Echo and was also in demand as a judge. For decades he was responsible for the weekly problem section in the Aachener Anzeiger (later Aachener Nachrichten ).
In 1962 he was appointed International Chess Composition Judge.
In addition to his compositional work in the field of studies , Hans-Hilmar Staudte also dealt with fairy tale chess and published numerous auxiliary matting and self-matting tasks. Below are two supporting Matt tasks (black is more attractive ) as examples:
