Johann Bernhard Michael Schneider
Johann Bernhard Schneider Michael (* 11. May 1905 in Würzburg ; † 23. December 1984 in Schweinfurt ) was a German composer in chess .
The chess composer
In 1920 Schneider discovered problem chess. Two years later he published his first assignment. In 1924 the Würzburger Volksblatt announced a tournament, Schneider took first to third place with his problems. In 1935 the Lower Franconian Problem Community was established . Here he participated with Willy Popp and others in the organization and as a composer. He was most successful within this problem community.
In 1965 he was appointed International Chess Composition Judge.
Schneider loved to create Zweizüger, but he also wrote Dreizüger, Selbst- and Hilfsmatts.
In total, Schneider composed almost 1000 problems. About 300 of them were awarded, 25 were included in the FIDE albums . For this he was honored in 1979 with the FIDE title International Master of Chess Composition .

The tournament player
Schneider learned to play chess at the age of 15. He achieved a reasonable skill level in tournament chess. So he won the championship of Lower Franconia several times, he was also city champion of Würzburg and Schweinfurt.
