Milu Milescu
Milu Milescu (also Milu Augutstein ; born November 11, 1911 in Romania ; † November 6, 1981 in Ramla ) was a Romanian-born Israeli chess composer and author of chess literature .
Milescu's main merit was undoubtedly his decades of work as a chess publicist. Mainly he devoted himself in his contributions to the similarities between practical game and chess composition. Chess motifs such as fortresses , pawn breakthroughs , fetters or move changes are relevant in his opinion for fans of both chess styles.
As a friend of Kurt Richter , he worked on his books and the German chess sheets . From 1930 to 1949 he was editor and chief editor of the Romanian magazine Revista Română de Șah . From 1962 he worked in the editorial team of Shahmat magazine . Milescu was also a member of the editorial team of the German Chess Newspaper .
In 1964, FIDE named Milescu International Chess Composition Referee .
Milescu graduated from Bucharest University in 1936 with a degree in pharmacy . In 1961 he emigrated to Israel. Milu Milescu died a few days before his 70th birthday.
