Lars Schandorff Madsen (born April 20, 1965 in Aarhus ) is a Danish chess player .

Life

He writes a daily chess column for the Berlingske newspaper .

successes

He started playing chess at the age of 11. In 1988 he became International Master , and since 1996 he has been Grand Master . His highest rating to date was 2563 from January to June 2003.

At the Copenhagen Open in 1997 and 1998 he was split first. Twenty times he took part in the Danish individual championship , which he won in 1988. With the Danish national team he played in nine chess Olympiads between 1988 and 2012 , and he also took part in the European team championships in 2005, 2007 and 2009.

In the German Federal Chess League he played for Werder Bremen until the 2006/07 season , with whom he was able to become German champions in 2004/05 and also took part in the European Club Cup three times . In the 1980s he played for Holstebro Skakklub in Denmark and for Sydøstfyn in the 1990s . then at Helsinge Skakklub, again for Sydøstfyn and then for Hillerød Skakklub . With the Skakklubben K41 he was Danish team champion in the 1995/96 season , with the Helsinge Skakklub 2001 , 2002 , 2003 , 2004 , 2005 , 2006 , 2007 and 2008 . In the Swedish Elitserien he played for Lunds ASK from 1999 to 2003 , from 2014 to 2018 Schandorff played for the team from Malmö AS and became Swedish team champion with them in 2018 . He was also active in the Icelandic team championship.
