Gina Gillespie

Gina Gillespie (born September 20, 1951 in Los Angeles , California ) is an American actress who was active as an actress from the age of 6 to 15.

From the age of six she made many appearances in television series, first in Suspicion and Rescue 8 in 1958 . She became very famous in 1959 for her role as Tess Wilkins in the series Law of the Plainsman (German Von Cowboys, Sheriffs and Bandits ). Here she plays an orphan girl who is rescued from a covered wagon attacked by outlaws by the Indian marshal Sam Buckhart ( Michael Ansara ) and who is taken in by Martha Commager ( Nora Marlowe ), who is also the boarding house owner, with whom Buckhart is staying.

In the film Pippi Longstocking , which was shown in the United States in 1961 as part of the Shirley Temple's Storybook film series , she played the title role of Pippi Longstocking .

Gillespie also had a leading role in the series Karen (1964) as the younger daughter of the Scott family, Mimi. Gillespie also appeared in feature films, such as Andy Hardy Comes Home (1958), It Happened to Jane (1959, with Doris Day and Jack Lemmon ), Face of a Fugitive (1959) and What really happened to Baby Jane? (1962, with Bette Davis and Joan Crawford ).

Her last appearance was in 1966 in the episode The Deadliest Kid in the West of the television series Laredo , after which her acting career was over and Gillespie retired into private life.
