The 2012/13 season was the 33rd season of the German Chess League . The defending champion OSG Baden-Baden dominated the field and was already the champion with two laps to go. New ascended from the 2. Bundesliga the are SK Norderstedt (Group North), the club Forchheim (Group East), the SV Griesheim (Group South) and the Wiesbaden-based chess club in 1885 (Group West). From a purely sporting point of view, Wiesbaden was the only newcomer to stay in the league, while Griesheim, Forchheim and Norderstedt ended up on the relegation spots together with the Schachfreunde Berlin , since on the one hand no promoted team from the 2nd Bundesliga West was reported for the Bundesliga 2013/14 and on the other hand Wiesbaden his team retired, the two best-placed relegated athletes achieved relegation with their chess friends Berlin and Griesheim. The victory of Léon Mons (Forchheim) against Arkadij Naiditsch (Baden-Baden) was voted the best game of the season .
