German Chess League 2016/17

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The 2016/17 season was the 37th season of the German Federal Chess League . Champion was the OSG Baden-Baden before SV Hockenheim , while defending himself SG Solingen had to settle for third place. Last year, SK König Tegel (group north), MSA Zugzwang 82 from Munich (group east), SG Speyer-Schwegenheim (group south) and DJK Aufwärts St. Josef Aachen 1920 (group west) were promoted from the 2nd Bundesliga . In purely sporting terms, Tegel and Speyer-Schwegenheim would have been relegated together with FC Bayern Munich and SV Griesheim , but since SG Trier withdrew its team and no team rose from the 2nd Bundesliga East for the 2017/18 season, Bayern Munich and SG remained Speyer-Schwegenheim the two best relegated in the class. For the game of the season, the winning game of Dennis Wagner (SV 1930 Hockenheim) against Predrag Nikolić (SG Solingen) was chosen.
