MSA Zugzwang 82

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The MSA Zugzwang 82 eV is a chess club from Munich .

history

Founded in 1982 as the Munich chess club Zugzwang 82 eV , the club was unable to establish itself in the upper leagues despite the increasing number of members in the years after its foundation. This only succeeded through the cooperation with the Munich Chess Academy (MSA) from 2009. Because of this, the name was changed to MSA Zugzwang. The cooperation strengthened the youth work, the chess academy provided the club with an upscale gaming room in a central location and, with the help of the sponsor Roman Krulich, it was possible to sign internationally experienced players. As a result, the grandmasters Stefan Kindermann and Gerald Hertneck could be won, both of whom had already competed in the German Chess League. In 2010/2011, the club was promoted to the Bavarian league, and in the 2011/2012 season, the MSA Zugzwang rose again and entered the 2nd Bundesliga . In 2015/2016 Zugzwang finally rose to the 1st Bundesliga . The class was held there in the first season of 2016/2017 . The same was achieved in 2017/2018 when he was thirteenth in the table - sporting a relegation rank, Zugzwang benefited from the withdrawal of the Schwäbisch Hall team. In 2018/19 he was relegated from the 1st Bundesliga.
