In 1983 he moved to Bayern Munich . Here he played successfully in the federal chess league, initially on the back boards. He was German team champion six times ( 1985 , 1986 , 1989 , 1990 , 1991 and 1992 ) with Bayern Munich, and in 1992 he also won the European Club Cup . Here he was also involved in the management of the association. During this time he also reached his greatest skill level with an Elo rating of 2615 (January 1994) and temporarily occupied the 1st board. When the team disbanded due to the sponsor's withdrawal, he left the club in 1998 for TV Tegernsee , where he played in the 2nd Bundesliga in the 1998/99 season and then in the 1st Bundesliga until 2009.
