Dmitrij Kollars (born August 13, 1999 in Bremen ) is a German chess player who has held the title of Grand Master since 2017 .

life and career

Life

Dmitrij Kollars attended grammar school on Hamburger Strasse in Bremen. His parents are musicians. In addition to his job as a professional chess player, he works as a journalist at Rochade Europa .

Career

He achieved his first successes in the national field at the German individual youth championships in 2011 in the U12 age group, where he finished fourth. Before that, he had several successes in Bremen. He won the Bremen individual youth championships in 2009 in the U10 and 2010 and 2011 in the U12. At the German school chess championships in 2013 in competition group III, he took second place with his school and third in 2014. At the German individual youth championship in the U16 age group, he was runner-up in June 2014 and champion in May 2015. In November 2014 he achieved his first IM norm at the German Chess Championships in Verden (Aller) , the second in March 2015 at the Nazari Chess Festival in Granada and the third in August 2015 at the GM tournament of the VMCG Chess Festival in Lüneburg .

He has been a professional chess player since August 2015. Dmitrij Kollars won several chess tournaments such as the Wiesbaden Castle Park Open 2015, a grandmaster tournament in Jūrmala in March 2016, the Haspa chess cup in Bargteheide in May 2016 and the New Chess Brains ELO Blitz tournament in Hamburg in October 2016. In September 2016 he reached 4th place in the U18 youth world championships . In May 2017 he finished second at the International German Junior Championships 2017 in Ströbeck and achieved his third grandmaster norm at the Sax Gyula Memorial in Zalakaros, Hungary, with 5.5 points from 9 games. In June 2017 he won the Hamburg Rapid Chess Championship . At the German Individual Championships in 2017 , he finished 5th with 6 points from 9 rounds. In the Hoogeveen Open 2017 he took second place.

Team chess

Dmitrij Kollars was active at Hamburger SK in the Bundesliga chess league from 2015 to 2018 and also took part in the European Club Cup 2015 with them. Before that he played for the Delmenhorster chess club and the chess department of SV Werder Bremen . In the 2018/19 season, Kollars competes in the Bundesliga for SF Deizisau . He is one of the greatest chess talents in Germany and took part in the 2016 Mitropacup with the German national team. In August 2017 he won the U18 European team championship with the German team in Rymanów-Zdrój, Poland .
