Florian Handke (born March 22, 1982 in Cologne ) is a German grandmaster in chess .
Life
Handke learned chess from his father. From 1996 he was trained by Yaroslav Srokovski , later by Christopher Lutz . Handke studied for his military service in the sports promotion group hall since October 2002 Jura and lives in Cologne. He is a judge at the Aachen Regional Court .
successes
At the U18 Youth World Cup in 1999 in Oropesa del Mar , he finished eighth. With the German national team he took part in the 2000 Mitropa Cup in Charleville-Mézières . At the German individual championship in 2001 in Altenkirchen he came second behind Christopher Lutz, and at the German championship in Saarbrücken in 2002, he came third behind Thomas Luther and Alexander Graf . In April 2006 he finished second behind Wladimir Burmakin at the Dos Hermanas Open .
He used to play club chess for SG Porz . In the German Federal Chess League he played continuously from the 2000/01 season to the 2013/14 season for SV Wattenscheid . From the 2014/15 season to the 2016/17 season he played for the Solingen chess company and became German team champion with them in 2016 , for DJK Aufwärts St. Josef Aachen 1920 in the 2017/18 season . In the season 2019/20 Handke plays again for Solingen. He also played in the Belgian ( 2003/04 for KSK Rochade Eupen-Kelmis ), Dutch ( 2018/19 for Zuid-Limburg ) and French leagues.
In 1999 he received the title of International Master . In 2003 he was awarded the title of Grand Master by FIDE (as one of the youngest Germans to receive this award). He received the GM standards for his achievements at the German Individual Championships in 2001 and 2002, as well as at the International Hamburg Individual Championships in 2002 and the Lost Boys Tournament in Amsterdam in 2002 .
