Christopher Lutz (born February 24, 1971 in Neukirchen-Vluyn ) is a German chess grandmaster .

career

Christopher Lutz won the German C youth championship in Berlin in 1983 and the German A youth championship in Altensteig in 1987 at the age of 16. At that time he was considered the greatest talent in Germany since Robert Huebner . At the U18 youth world championship in 1989 in Aguadilla , Puerto Rico, he was third behind Wladimir Hakobjan and Alex Sherzer . In 1989 he became International Master , 1992 Grand Master . The last necessary norm he reached at a tournament in December 1991 in Budapest , when he finished second behind Alexander Baburin with equal points .

Lutz was twice German single champion in chess , 1995 in Binz and 2001 in Altenkirchen .

At the Dortmund Chess Days 2002, which were held as a candidate tournament for the 2004 World Chess Championship , Lutz scored 1.5 points from 6 games in his opening group and was eliminated.

In 2002 Lutz was the second of Wladimir Kramnik in his competition against the chess program Deep Fritz in Bahrain , and in 2006 in Bonn at Kramnik's competition against Deep Fritz .

Elo development

National team

Christopher Lutz took part in all eight Chess Olympiads with the German national team from 1992 to 2006 and achieved second place at the 2000 Chess Olympiad in Istanbul as the greatest success . He also took the team's World Cup 2001 and the European Team Championships in 1992, 1997, 1999, 2001, 2003 and 2005 in part; he reached third place with the team in Batumi in 1999 and in León in 2001 .

societies

Lutz played from 1988 to 2007 in the 1st Bundesliga for SG Porz , with which he became German team champion in 1994 , 1996 , 1998 , 1999 , 2000 and 2004 . In the 2007/08 season he played with Godesberger SK in the first division, and since 2008 he has played with SG Porz in the second division . In the Austrian State League A he played in the 1998/99 season for SK Loosdorf and in the 2002/03 season for SV Tschaturanga . In France he played for Vandœuvre-Echecs until 2005 , he won the Belgian interclubs in 2004 , 2006 , 2010 and 2011 with KSK 47 Eynatten .

Computer chess

In the development team for the Hydra computer program , Lutz was responsible for creating the opening book .

Private

Lutz is married to the German chess master Anke Koglin . The couple has a daughter and lives in Cologne .
