Michael Zeitlein

Michael Zeitlein , ( Russian Михаил Семёнович Цейтлин , born June 16, 1947 in Babrujsk , Belarusian SSR ) is a Soviet- German chess master and chess journalist who played for the Soviet Union in his prime . In 1997 he switched to the German Chess Federation .

biography

Little time won or occupied top places in some tournaments: 1st place at the 16th Rubinstein Memorial in Polanica-Zdrój (1978), 3rd place at the Tirnavia-A tournament in Trnava (1979), 1st place at the tournament in Naleczów (1979) , 2nd place at the Makarczyk Memorial (1980), 1st place at the tournament in Pernik (1981), 3rd place at the tournament in Hradec Králové (1982), 1st place at the Bohemians tournament in Prague (1985), 1st place at the Elekes Memorial in Budapest (1990) and 3rd place at the First Saturday GM tournament in Budapest (November 1993).

Zeitlein has held the title of Master of Sports of the Soviet Union since 1969, the title of International Master since 1977 and the title of Grand Master since 1987 .

He has also been the correspondence chess grandmaster since 1990. In correspondence chess, he is registered for the German correspondence chess federation.

In the clubs' first Soviet chess championship in 1988, he easily finished second for MOSK Oblast Moscow . With Lokomotiv he took part in the European Club Cup in 1990. He played club chess in Germany in the 1995/96 season for SV Lahn Limburg in the Hessenliga, and in the 1998/99 season in the German Bundesliga for Werder Bremen . After he did not play a tournament that was rated in Germany from 2001 to 2012, he has been registered in the Oberliga Nord West (3rd division) for the Bremer Schachgesellschaft von 1877 since the 2012/13 season . In the Austrian State League A he was registered on the top board of SK Schwaz in the 1991/92 season , but was not used.

Zeitlein's Elo number is 2376 (as of May 2016), in January 1978 he reached his highest Elo number of 2510.

Michael Zeitlein published several articles for the chess magazine New In Chess in the 1990s .
