Romuald Mainka (born May 15, 1963 in Gliwice ) is a German chess master . He was awarded the title of Grand Master by FIDE in 1993 .

Career

Romuald Mainka settled with his parents in Dortmund in the 1970s , where he appeared as a talented young chess player. In 1980 he finished second after Jaan Ehlvest in an international youth tournament in Schilde, Belgium . In the 1980s and 1990s, Mainka was consistently one of the most promising talents. He lives in Dortmund and works in Witten - Annen .

Since the mid-1980s, Mainka played with the SF Dortmund-Brackel first in the 2nd Bundesliga , after their promotion from 1989 to 1992 in the 1st Bundesliga . From 1992 to 1997 he played for SG Porz in the 1st Bundesliga and became German team champion in 1994 and 1996 . In 2002 he moved to the second division club Betzdorf-Kirchen, a year later to SC Remagen, where he played until 2010 (including from 2006 to 2010 in the first division). He has been playing for Hansa Dortmund since the 2010/11 season, with whom he played in the 1st Bundesliga in the 2011/12 season and is also registered in the 1st League in the 2014/15 season. In the Belgian interclubs he played from 2008 to 2010 for KSK 47 Eynatten .

Mainka's twin brother Gregor Mainka had his highest Elo rating of 2385 in July 1993 and also played with the SF Dortmund-Brackel in the 1989/90 and 1993/94 seasons in the 1st Bundesliga.
