Individual tournaments

In 2001 he became German U12 champion in Willingen (Upland) , in 2002 at the age of eleven in Winterberg German U14 champion and in 2005, again in Willingen (Upland), he won the German U16 championship by a large margin. When he was awarded the FM title in October 2003, he was the youngest German to ever receive this title. He has held the title of International Master since 2006 and the title of Grand Master since 2007.

Having just turned twelve, he took second place at the Mountain Open in Bedřichov, Czech Republic, with an Elo rating of over 2500. In 2003 he played at the U14 World Cup in Greece.

In March 2008 he won the 12th Neckar Open in Deizisau with 7.5 points from 9 games . In April 2011 he won the Grand Masters group of the First Saturday series with 6.5 points from 9 games and one point ahead. A few months later, in October 2011, he won, again with a lead and unbeaten, the A group of the Lucerne Open with 5.5 points from 7 games.

Clubs and GM standards

His first club was the SC Oberland . He then switched to the higher class playing Dresdner SC . In the 2006/07 season he made his first appearance in the German Federal Chess League . With 11 out of 15 and a DWZ performance of 2670 for SC Remagen , he secured his first grandmaster norm. For the 2007/08 season he was signed for board 5 by TSV Bindlach . After Bindlach withdrew from the Bundesliga, he moved to the Eppingen chess club . He got the second GM norm at the European Championships in Dresden in 2007, and since norms are counted twice at the European Championships, he received the grandmaster title in September 2007 after having exceeded the limit of 2500 Elo points. This made Bindrich the youngest grandmaster in Germany at the age of 16.

Bindrich, who lives in Zittau, near the Czech Republic, also plays in the Czech first division ( extraliga ) for ŠK Zikuda Turnov, who is about 40 kilometers away . In Switzerland he played for SK Tribschen and since the 2011 season for the Lucerne chess club and in the Austrian 1st Bundesliga since the 2011/12 season for SK Hohenems . In the 2013/14 season he was Austrian national champion with SK Hohenems and achieved the best individual result in the Austrian 1st Bundesliga with 9.5 points from 11 games. In Germany, Bindrich played for SC Turm Lüneburg in the Oberliga Nord from 2013 to 2015 , in the 2015/16 season for the TSV Bindlach shareholder in the 2. Bundesliga East , and in the 2017/18 season for DJK Aufwärts St. Josef Aachen 1920 and in the 2019/20 season for SV Lingen in the 1st Bundesliga. In Belgium, Bindrich played for KSK 47 Eynatten and Cercle d'Échecs Fontainois , with whom he became champions in 2019 .

National team

In July 2004 he was in Belgrade with the German youth national team U18 European champion. He is now a member of the German national team's B squad. At the Chess Olympiad 2010 in Khanty-Mansiysk , he played on board 3 of the German team and scored 4.5 points from 8 games.

Bundesliga dispute

As part of the team fight between SC Eppingen and Sportfreunde Katernberg in the 2012/13 season , Falko Bindrich failed to comply with the referee's request against Sebastian Siebrecht in the Bundesliga game on October 21, 2012 to give him his cell phone, which he had illegally taken to the toilet, to check. His game was then counted as lost. The SC Eppingen subsequently announced that no longer use Bindrich until the final clarification of the facts in his Bundesliga team. Thereafter, in its meeting on January 19, 2013 , the Presidium of the German Chess Federation imposed a two-year function and game ban on Bindrich. Bindrich appealed against this and announced that he would also appeal to civil courts if necessary. On May 2, 2013 the ban was lifted by the DSB arbitration court. The reasoning stated that the ban had been imposed without a legal basis, since Bindrich had only been subject to the sanctions law of the Schachbundesliga eV in the incident, but not that of the DSB. DSB President Herbert Bastian then announced that he wanted to close this legal loophole by making appropriate changes to the statutes. In April 2014 it was announced that Bindrich is suing the German Chess Federation for damages in the amount of 68,000  euros . In September 2014 the complaint was dismissed by the Berlin Regional Court. Bindrich had not been able to prove the amount of his loss of income and he was also partly to blame for the ban.

Awards

In 2003, 2005, 2007 and 2009 Bindrich was voted “Player of the Year” by the German Chess Youth . In 2007 he became an honorary citizen of Zittau when he obtained the title of Grand Master and entered the city's golden book.
