Alexander Naumann (born February 17, 1979 in Magdeburg ) is a German chess player .

Life

Naumann had his chess roots with the Chemie Wolfen-Nord association . Since the late 1980s, he was one of the strongest chess players in his age group, first in the GDR and later in reunified Germany. In 1992 he won the German championship in the U15 age group and in 1997 the German championship in the U20 age group and participated in several youth world and European championships with good results, such as the 1992 U14 World Cup in Duisburg . In Bratislava in 1993 he jumped to the top of the world with a 5th place in the U14 World Cup, Péter Lékó came second. In 1994 at the U16 World Cup in Szeged ( Hungary ), he finished 4th.

In the 1992/93 season Naumann was the first regular player in the 2nd Bundesliga at SK Dessau . From 1996 to 1999 he played at USC Magdeburg in the first and second Bundesliga. Since 1999 he has been part of the Bundesliga team of the Solingen chess company , with which he became German team champion in 2016 and also took part in the European Club Cup three times . In the Austrian 1st Bundesliga he played from 2000 to 2013 for SK Hohenems , with whom he became Austrian team champion in 2004 and twice took part in the European Club Cup. He has been playing for SC MPÖ Maria Saal since the 2014/15 season and became the Austrian team champion in 2016 . In the Dutch master class he played for Homburg Apeldoorn in the 2005/06 season and for hotels.nl/Groningen in the 2009/10 season .

In 2002 he won the Grand Masters tournament in Rostock ahead of David Baramidze and Uwe Bönsch . In 2003 he won the Mitropa Cup in Pula with the German national team , he took part in the Mitropa Cup five times. At the 2008 Chess Olympiad in Dresden , he played on board 3 of the 3rd team of the German Chess Federation.

In 1999 he was named International Master by the World Chess Federation FIDE , and in 2005 Grand Master . He fulfilled the grandmaster standards in August 2001 at the Pyramiden-Frankencup in Fürth , in the German Federal Chess League 2003/04 and in November 2003 at the Open International Bavarian Championship in Bad Wiessee .

He is the A-trainer of the German Chess Federation and since 2019 captain of the German women's national team.

Naumann is a pharmacist by profession .
