Rasmus Svane (born May 21, 1997 in Allerød Kommune ) is a Danish chess player who is eligible to play for the German Chess Federation .

Single successes

One of his bigger successes was the shared 1st place in 2012 at the North-West Cup in Bad Zwischenahn . In May 2014, his playing strength exceeded the 2500 mark for the first time. In June 2015, with his then Elo rating of 2519, he was 37th in the German rankings and 4th in the national U-18 rankings. In May 2013 Svane was named international champion , he fulfilled the required standards at the German individual championship 2011 in Bonn , in July 2012 at the Politiken Cup in Helsingør and in December 2012 at the 1st Korbach GM standards tournament. Svane has held the title of Grand Master since September 2016 , and he fulfilled the required standards in April 2015 at the Aeroflot Open in Moscow , in June 2015 at the Visma Chess 2015 GM in Växjö and in the 1st Bundesliga 2015/16 .

Team chess

In Germany, Svane played for the Lübeck chess club from 1873 until 2012 , since 2012 he has played with the Hamburger SK in the 1st Bundesliga , with which he also took part in the 2015 European Club Cup . He won the Danish Skakligaen in 2015 and 2018 with Skanderborg Skakklub , and the Austrian Bundesliga in 2020 with SK Sparkasse Jenbach .

With the German national team, he took part in the 2014 Mitropacup in Ružomberok . He was part of the German team for the first time at the European Championship in 2017. At the 2018 Chess Olympiad he played on board 4 for the German team.

Others

Rasmus Svane is the son of the cellist Troels Svane .

His younger brother Frederick Svane is also a strong chess player (Elo rating 2421, as of May 2020).
