René Stern (born May 15, 1972 in Rostock ) is a German chess player .
He achieved the title of International Master in 1992 and the title of Grand Master in August 2014 . He achieved the grandmaster standards at the 2007 European Championships in Dresden and in the 2013/14 season of the German Chess League . His successes include winning the German Rapid Chess Championship in 2010 and the German Blitz Chess Championship in 2013.
In addition, René Stern won the Berlin Chess Championships in 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2014 . He currently plays for SK König Tegel , with whom he started in the first Bundesliga in the 2006/07 , 2009/10 , 2011/12 and 2013/14 seasons . Previously, he was represented in the 1990/91 season with the Delmenhorster Chess Club and from 1991 to 1996 with SV Empor Berlin in the first Bundesliga; with Empor Berlin he also won the GDR team championship in 1990 .
