Jens-Uwe Maiwald (born May 6, 1974 in Dresden ) is a German chess master .

Life

Maiwald won or occupied top places in several tournaments: 16th place at the U18 youth world championship in Duisburg (1992), 2nd place at the First Saturday GM tournament in Budapest (February 1993). Also in 1993 he was ninth at the European U20 Championships in Denmark . It was followed by second places at the Honvéd tournament in Budapest (1994) and behind Klaus Bischoff at the tournament in Recklinghausen (1997). Further successes are a 3rd place at the Elekes GM Memorial in Budapest (1998), a 2nd place at the First Saturday GM tournament in Budapest (June 1999) and a 2nd place at the Open in Lippstadt (2003).

Maiwald has held the title of International Master since 1993 , and he received the Grand Master title in 1999.

In the German 1st Bundesliga , Maiwald played for SV Erfurt West from 1991 to 1994, for Dresdner SC from 1994 to 2000 , with whom he took part in the European Club Cup in 1996 , and for SC Kreuzberg from 2002 to 2006 . Since 2007 he has been playing for the USV TU Dresden , with whom he played in the 1st division in the 2008/09 and 2011/12 seasons and is also registered in the 1st Bundesliga in the 2014/15 season. In the Austrian 1st Bundesliga (formerly State League A) he played in the 1999/2000 season for SK Zell am Ziller , in the 2004/05, 2007/08, 2009/10 and 2010/11 seasons for SK Mayrhofen , and in of the 2014/15 season and since the 2018/19 season for the Mayrhofen / Raika Zell / Zillertal syndicate .
